8 emerge unhurt after Causeway plane crash
SEVEN PASSENGERS and the pilot of a plane that crash landed on Perico Island on the Panama Causeway on Friday, July 19, escaped with only bruises.
The HP-1338MF plane, traveling from Punta Coco in the Pearl Islands made an emergency landing and ended up piled against a container. The eight people, on board were taken to the National Hospital for a routine check up.
he director general of the Civil Aviation Authority, Rafael Barcenas, confirmed that the occupants had no injuries, but that in any case they were checked by staff of the Fire Department of Panama.
Fire captain, Julio Muñoz, said that after review it was reported that six Americans and a Colombian only had bruises.
The pilot was reported to be a Panamanian citizen.
The president, Ricardo Martinelli, went to the crash site, along with Civil Aviation Authority representatives and firefighters.
An investigation to determine the causes of the accident is underway.
