Independent candidate readying for presidential bid
Former Tribunal Electoral (TE) Judge Gerardo Solís said Tuesday today that he is about to deliver the first 2,253 signatures he has collected for his independent presidential candidacy.
Solis saa that he will present the signatures to the TE so they can be verified. He said the country is ready for an independent candidate because the citizens are tired of the scandals of the current government.
While Solis acknowledged that he is at a disadvantage in the upcoming elections – since he is not backed by a political party – he reiterated that he believes in the citizenship and says he will be endorsed by several prominent leaders of civil societies.
"Next year the people will vote for an independent," he predicted.
Solis, an avid motorcycle rider, also came out against the regulation that requires riders to display their plate numbers on their helmets and jackets.
