Former mayoralty candidate comes out of shadows

After a month of silence, former PRD mayoralty hopeful Roberto "Bobby" Velasquez reappeared Tuesday, July 2, and said that he will continue in politics.

"We will make our statements when it's the right time, we will continue doing our work," said Velásquez.

He dropped out of the race after a tape recording surfaced of him allegedly threatening another candidate, José Luis Fábrega.
Velasquez said that the recording was a "political smear campaign by the government" and that it was illegally recorded and libelous
Velasquez said he will not turn his back on his supporters.
He made his first public appearance since dropping out of the race at the funeral of politician Ramón Ashby, who died on Saturday.
