Ombudperson defends plum website contract

THE CONTROVERSIAL $250,000 contract for the redesigning of   the website of   of the Ombudsman was done "in a transparent manner that met all requirements" says an unsigned statement  from the entity.

The statement, issued Monday May 27, said the web site is crucial to helping the agency do its job and that the agency "has complied with the administrative procedures established by law" in issuing the contract.

It said that the entity is satisfied with the work that was performed and that it was done with transparency.

The contract has been roundly criticized due to the political connections (CD) of the owner of the contracting company.

The National office of Transparency Against Corruption has said it has found irregularities in the contract.
