Women prisoners riot for better health care and food

THIRTY national police riot officers armed with batons and shields were called to the female rehabilitation center on Tuesday afternoon to control a riot at the facility.

Prisoners were demonstrating to demand better medical care, better meals and quicker resolution of cases. They claimed that women with diabetes and other illnesses received little or no treatment and called for Minister of Government Jorge Ricardo Fábrega meet with them to address their issues.
Prisoners could be seen inside the perimeter fence waving flags jumping up and down and calling their complaints to the media
Riot police were called in because some of the prisoners were said to be armed with knives.
