Ombudsperson’s website design cost $250,000
TWITTER critics were out in force on Monday, May 20, over the $ 250,000 paid by the Ombudsman's office for the designing of a website.
The money went to a graphic design consultancy company, Imaginarium Studio, S. A., headed by Jean Paul Ortega, a member of the ruling Democratic Change-to redesign the website of the entity.
The controversy erupted after La Prensa published the cost of a no bid direct contract awarded by the Ombudsperson, Patria Portugal.
According to experts in the field, the payment was nearly seven times more than current market prices.
Most comments on Twitter asked for explanations to the Ombudsman and expressed shock at the cost to redesign a website.
Among the tweets: Giovanni M. Miranda "@ gmiranda507: We demand a public explanation from the Office of the Ombudsman for this scandal with her website that leaves questions about her handling and transparency."
Also Jorge Luis Mendez, who wrote "@ jlmendezbonini Recorcholis Batman! It's good business websites! # ADVOCACY ".
Politician Carlos Eduardo Rubio, People's Party wrote: "@ CarlosERubio87 The design that cost $250,000 and not $1,000 . I wouldn’t value either".
