New Cinta Costera attraction opened
A NEW park on the Cinta Costera was opened by President Ricardo Martinelli, in the afternoon of Tuesday, May 14.
The breakwater development is part of the third stage of the coastal strip which is still under construction.
The president visited several sections of the area accompanied by the Democratic Change (CD), presidential candidate for the 2014 José Domingo Arias, Minister of Public Works, James Ford, Minister of Social Development Guillermo Ferrufino, and the governor of Panama, Mayín Correa.
The breakwater, will be open to the public from Wednesday May 15 is composed of parks, shops, areas for the sale of crafts, a cultural area, sports courts, a bike path, parking and a restaurant with a gazebo, . Although defined as a tourism project Martinelli said it will be an area intended for "Panamanians to relax".
He also announced that stage three of the Cinta Costera, a viaduct which sweeps around Casco Viejo to Chorillo will be fully open before January 10, 2014.
It also includes , the construction of land filling on the Avenida de los Poetas
an underground high voltage line located on Avenida Balboa and two pedestrian bridges. The overall cost of the work is $ 782 million.
