The author of the report is the  Geothermal Regional Training Center, based in El Salvador, and  promoted by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and has the cooperation of the Inter-American Development Bank(IDB). The company was created under the framework of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program in Central America.

According to GIZ, geothermal power is the second most important source for producing renewable energy resources in the region.
"From the new office  the intention is to strengthen and develop the potential in geothermal energy in order to increase the scientific and technological capacities of government agencies, and private sector institutions, dedicated to this source of energy," reported Elsalvador.com.
