Beware of political propaganda warns Electoral Judge
AN ELECTORAL COURT (TE), judge has warned Panama’s voters not to become “tools of marketing” in the year leading up to the 2014 general elections.
Eduardo Valdés Escoffery, told La Prensa that although the TE has the responsibility to ensure freedom and effectiveness of suffrage, "we cannot guarantee who the people who want to choose", however, it is expected "that the popular will is the product of a reflection on candidates that meet the interests of the country ".
The warning comes as the government continues its advertising propaganda lauding its’ “achievements” and opposition parties gear up to highlight its’ failures,
Valdés Escoffery said that “teaching is the only way we can help people to have a more critical and analytical awareness regarding the resumes of each candidate and not be manipulated by electoral propaganda
