Another health worker strike begins
At least 5,000 workers in the health sector will participate Tuesday in a 48-hour strike called by the medical workers union Conagreprotsa.
Union official Carlos Peralta told La Prensa the work stoppage is due to the failure of the government to follow agreements reached in October 2012.
He said that promised wage increases have not been delivered.
"We will remain on strike until the ultimate consequences," warned Peralta, who said that although the strike is scheduled for 48 hours, it could be extended if the government does not respond.
He added that the members will not serve in outpatient areas, operating rooms and comprehensive units, among others.
The strike follows a 4 day walk out by nurses over wage demands and working conditions. Only emergencies were admitted to operating rooms.
