No turning back, diablos rojos gone for ever – Minister

Panama’s Metro bus system may be faltering, but one thing is certain: "There is no turning back. The diablos rojos will not return to the system”.

The words came from Minister of The Presidency, Roberto Henriquez on Thursday evening, April 11, after a meeting between representatives of the institutions and companies that deal with the provision of public transport services, including the Transit Authority (ATTT), managers of the companies Mi bus (Metro bus operator) and Sonda , which manages the system for recharging cards.
Confirming that the diablos rojos were gone forever he said: “That I can guarantee, because this system [of transport with the Metro Bus and Metro] will be successful when it is processed " he said.
Henriquez emphasized that the issue of transportation should not be seen as if it were "a hospital, or an airport, or something that is built first and then operating and delivering. This is something we have to build while operating and we are all suffering the consequences of that."
“Once the various road works that complement the Metro Bus system and the Metro subway in the capital city are completed we can ensure optimal service, comfortable, safe and reliable, as promised by this administration.” he said.
Henriquez emphasized that all stakeholders in the transport system are committed to continue to refine the system and more transit inspectors are being hired to coordinates with the National Police who will increased their presence on the streets, especially at critical points.
It is estimated that the road works that complement the public transport will finished within 10 months, three months before the election.
