Mi Bus puts Business before passengers – Ombudswoman
The operators of Panama’s Metro Bus service are more interested in “business” than passengers says the country’s Ombudswoman, Patria Portugal.
On Wednesday, April 10, she questioned the record of the Mi Bus in providing service in the capital. “Mi Bus has not done well”, said Portugal, after touring the Deciembre 24 sector.
There, users continued to complain about the service they receive. She said that in the area people reported having to get up at 2:00 am to be on time for work. "It's very sad, Panamanians are not resting well," she said.
"There is no order," said Portugal, and the company has to improve logistics. Users should spend only10 minutes at stops, but right now, the wait time is two hours she said
Portugal also accused Mi Bus of think only of "business". Are allowed to have only 35 people standing on the bus, but many more are accepted. She said she has twice tried, talk to company representatives, but they canceled appointments. She indicated a “lack of oversight of contracts” [between state and companies] “In the end it is seems that companies "do what they want," she said.
