Arrested students face expulsion, school remains closed

Panama’s National Institute will remain closed on Monday April 8 following participation of students in demonstrations leading to road closures earlier in the week.

The road closures took place on Avenida de Los Martires on April 2 and 18 students were arrested.  Reports say that  numerous non-students infiltrated the demonstration Most of the arrested students will be expelled said the National Director of Education, Marisin Chanis, on Friday
The Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, confirmed to La Prensa that classes, will not resume April 8/
According to Molinar, there are still some points to be cleared up in the investigation of the closures. , the Education Minister said that she will announce the reopening date on Monday.
