Panama wins 18 golds at Central American games

After seven days of in the Central American Games in San Jose 2013, Panama ‘s athletes won 62 medals, including 18 gold.

Panama took fourth place in the competition behind Guatemals, El Salvador and Costa Rica.

On Sunday Panama’s athletes won three gold medals through Alonso Edward (200 meters) and Aixa Middleton (women’s discus) and William Rios(high jump).
Edward won the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.52 seconds, while Middleton did set a new games record of 49.08 meters.
Rios in high jump competition, achieved a mark of 2.05 meters and in the same event Edmon Henry Panama took the bronze.
Ruth Hunt took silver in the women's 200-meter dash.

The football team won the silver medal after losing in the finals to Guatemala 5-2, in extra time.
