Accounting for Carnival expenses coming up
PANAMA’S Tourism Authority disbursed $250,000 to the ShowPro company and they will pay, at the same time, the artists Wisin & Yandel, who filled in at the last minute for the closing of the Panama City Carnival.
Tourism Director Salomán Shamah said that he would present a final accounting of the Carnival to the Comptroller's Office on Thursday .September 21.
Shamah defended the payments, saying the company helped to promote the event and attract an internationally-recognized artist to close the show.
Initially, ShowPro was hired to bring the Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Don Omar to Panama, however he dropped out at the last minute due to an apparent contract dispute.
ShowPro, which critics said belongs to a son of President Ricardo Martinelli , and which has received multiple direct contracts from the government, announced that they would replace Don Omar, with Wisin Y Yandel .
