Carnival outflow means traffic heaven for stay at homes
10,000 VEHICLES had headed into the interior from Panama City by early evening on Friday, February 8.
The exodus continued into the night leading to worse than usual traffic jams in many parts of the city, but residents can look forward to their annual carnival bonanza with near traffic free streets, across the city until the motoring lemmings return on Tuesday February 12.
But with the exodus came the first reports of accidents and driving offences. By 4 pm the National Police (PN), reported 52 traffic accidents. These accidents were reported ,34 of them in the capital and 18 outside. There were no reported fatalities.
Also by 4 pm 152 drivers had been booked for speeding, unbelted 25, talking on cell phones 17 and illegal turns 14 to talk on cell phones for making illegal turns
