Ruling party predicted to get only 20% of 2014 vote
The former president of Panama’s Electoral Tribunal predicts that the ruling Democratic Change party (CD) will be lucky to get 20 percent of the vote in the next election.
Gerardo Solis speaking on the the Open Debate program broadcast by Channel 4 RPC on Sunday January 27, said: “The current ruling party knows that the Executive is not going to win in the next election, their polls should be saying that they are between 15% and 20%, that is the reality and I maintain that they will not get no more than 20% in the next election." The election will take place in May 2014
According to the ex judge, this is the result you get after the Panamanian people feel that the government has deceived them.
With that scenario the only thing left is to look to the CD Legislature therefore will begin "to look to the deputies an alliances to try to maintain a share of power.
"It is important for society and opposition parties to understand that they have to work together so the Panama Assembly can achieve something different.," said Solis.
