5 years on- victims of mass poisoning seek justice
Relatives of the victims of mass poisoning with diethylene glycol, in Panama were on the steps of the Supreme Court on, January 15, calling for a speeding up of five-year-old judicial investigations into the tragedy
Over 219 people were confirmed to have died and many more ares still suffering the effects from poisoned cough mixture.
Gabriel Pascual said, “Iit is time for the Supreme Court to act for the benefit of the victims.”
He said the demonstration ay addresses two fundamental aspects, one is to insist that the “Court expedite the investigation file of those who processed diethyline glycol regardless of social backgrounds and without patronage “.
On the other hand, they were asking for a ruling and a “verdict” on the case of the beating of a victim and the victim’s family by agents of the Interagency Protection Service (SPI) in July 2007.
Pascual said the demonstrators will assess what other steps to take to get their voices heard
