Martinelli blames last government for housing tragedy

While attending a Coronado beach party on Sunday, November 25, President Ricardo Martinelli, put the blame for the collapse of 23 homes during landslides in Cristobal, Colon, on the previous government.
In Coronado,where a new Caja Ahhora was unveiled,  the president said that base where the houses were built was done by the previous government and his administration completed the work. 
In March 2012, entitled an official statement on the government’s housing development said: " The Government will fulfill the dream of home ownership " and trumpeted the delivery of 306 homes at a cost of $6.6 million to families of Colon in Victoria and Cristobal. "I do not understand how previous governments forgot Colon," said Martinelli at an opening ceremony.
Paul Tuñón director of the Fire Department, said they had determined that the disaster was an underground current that gradually eroded the land.
Meanwhile the death toll in the weekend disaster rose to three and on Monday the Transistmica highway between Panama and Colon remained blocked.
More heavy rain caused by a low pressure system over  Colombia Costa Rica and Panama is forecast.
