Martinelli continues slide in the polls
Six out of 10 people who voted for Ricardo Martinelli in the 2009 general election say they would not choose him again according to the latest survey by Unimer for La Prensa.
Of the 1205 people interviewed, 464 said they had voted for the president.
The survey took place in July, when Martinelli had completed three years in office.
In March 2010, only 10% of voters said they were sorry they had voted for him and 69.5% said they would vote for him again
Under the existing constitution, the President is prevented from being immediately re-elected and must wait 10 years to run again.
However, the opposition claims that the president is seeking reforms to the Constitution and the Electoral Code, which would change the rules and favor the the ruling party.
