Opposition leaders get pat on back from Foreign Minister

Panama’s Foreign Minister, Roberto Henriquez,  has congratulated leaders of opposition political parties for showing that they are open to dialog. 

Henriquez. On Wednesday June 20 said he saw positive action from  deputies and leaders of all  opposition political parties who were willing to sit at the table of the National Coalition for Development for a real debate on issues of national interest, after the president, Ricardo Martinelli,announced that he would withdraw controversial bills that have led to widespread protests across the country.

 Martinelli announced , Tuesday, on national television that he would suspend the special sessions in the National Assembly and would forward the discussion on the sale of shares held by the State in joint ventures to the National Coalition for Development.

"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's said Henriquez on the behavior of opposition leaders after Martinelli’s backdown,.

On Telemetro Report  Henriquez reiterated that Martinelli will introduce a bill to permanently remove the Fifth Chamber of the Supreme Court. 

In the last week different sectors of society have criticized the president for the appointment of three new judges because those three would give him absolute control of the Supreme Court.
