A Corner of Canada in Panama Pacifico

A new Canadian embassy initiative is seeking to promote the Canadian dynamic and  celebrate the French presence in Panama.

"Leo (reading) in Canada", is aimed at opening  the gates to French-Canadian literature, and  helping promote a  dynamic and multicultural country.

The program  was initiated at  the Lycée Paul Gauguin of Panama, with the delivery of books by French Canadians to nearly 200 children in the school library where they have built the "A corner of Canada."

The  project will allow students at the school   from 6 to 14 years(over 40% are Panamanians),  to explore the  nuances and colors of French literature, and to discover writers like Marie Laberge and the collections of celebrities such as Amos Aragon and the Journal of Aurélie Laflamme.

Canadian Ambassador,. Sylvia Cesaratto, was at the school in Panama Pacifico to open the "Canadian Corner" at the Lyceum Paul Gauguin at Panama Pacifico. She said, "Who knows  what can develop from the discovery of Canada through our literature? Some of these young people could choose to travel and then study in Canada!"
