Panama judges at training sessions on human trafficking
The U.S. ambassador in Panama, Jonathan Farrar, was the keynote speaker at the close of a training session for local judges who focus on human trafficking in Panama.
The closing ceremony included the workshops sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and offered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on the new law 79.
The training included the history of human trafficking, care and protection of victims, international law, and practice exercises focused on human rights.
During the closing ceremony Ambassador Farrar said:"Panama has made great strides in combating human trafficking with the approval of Law 79 of November 9, 2011, which entered into force on January 1 , 2012.
This was the second series of workshops focused on Panamanian judicial officials discussing national and international legislation to support the implementation of the new law in Panama.
