$6 million approved for diablo rojo compensation
A $6 million transfer to pay compensation to former Diablo Rojo operators was approved in the National Assembly on Monday, April 9.
The Budget Committee authorized the transfer for the Transport Authority (ATTT) to pay compensation to certificate holders operating transport trunk routes.
The ATTT will hand out $25,000 to each of 240 owners.
ATTT director, Juan Pablo Mora , said he has a goal for the Metro Bus system to be 100% implemented in mid-year. Mora said that this goal will be met as fast as they can reach an agreement with carriers that are still operational.
Some 800 converted school buses have yet to be removed from the mass transit system in the city of Panama.
