Health workers strike action possible

Public health workers have not ruled out a country wide strike following talks with the Ministry of Health (MOH)  over arrears of salary adjustments.

Jorge Gomez, a spokesman for The Health Officers' Association (AFUSA), told La Prensa, Saturday April 7, that the MOH has not complied with arrears of salary adjustments, and that a March 28 meeting between AFUSA and the Human Resources Department of the MoH was “not very friendly”.

There will be a general meeting of AFUSA on April 13 and 14  and a firm decision on future action is expected by April 17. "but  a strike is not ruled out" said Gomez.

AFUSA has 2,500 workers in the MOH.
