Charity benefits from Carols By Candlelight

Joseph Ennis, a member of the organizing committee of the Carols by Candlelight concert in December dropped by Plaza de Francia in Casco Viejo early this week carrying a late Christmas gift.

He delivered a $1000 cheque to Patricia Tello, Executive Director of Foundation Calicanto, which organizes community programs for women and children in San Felipe. The  donationcame from the sale of candles, used by members of the audience in the Plaza, as they sang along with eight choirs  during the first staging of the concert on December 3.

The event,  follows an Australian tradition that has been running for over 70 years, and was introduced to Panama by the CanadaPLUS Club, which has members in Panama from over 20 countries.

The Club is already working on next year’s expanded concert, which will follow an all day Christmas Festival at a location to be announced shortly.

Anyone interested in becoming part of the activity either as a vendor, performer or volunteer, or just to get on the mailing list, should contact clubcanadaplus@gmail,com
