New Canal bridge to ease traffic woes

As  Panama’s Ministry of Public Works (MOP) continues to struggle with problems connected to the Bridge of the Americas talk of a fourth bridge has resurfaced.

Public Works Minister Federico Suarez talked in recent days  of indicated that they referred new transportation projects for the coastal area, such as a road to the fourth bridge over the Panama Canal. 

"We are studying the construction of the fourth bridge over the canal that would be very close to the Bridge of the Americas to improve the   lives the  of people in the west of the country, "he said. 

The new work would benefit areas such as Arraiján, Resume, Veracruz, La Chorrera and Capira, which generate more than 100,000 transit vehicles. The construction of the new access "cannot wait any longer," he said. 

The new route  to enter the city, along the coastal strip, will cut through July 4th Avenue, to the Albrook area connecting with the northern corridor.  For now, business continuity plans in the coastal road are under study.
