No court date set for year old killing charges against 9 police
Lawyers representing nine policemen accused of killing seven young people and allegedly the National Police itself, have ensured that after one year the case has not reached the courts.
More than 20 legal objections have been filed by lawyers for the nine policemen accused of killing five of the seven young people who died last year after burning in a cell at the Tocumen Compliance Center.
The dead boys burned to death while screaming for help and police were filmed standing by, laughing and calling out “die”. After the event, the police were assigned to desk duties.
Advocates for the families of the victims and two survivors have alleged that the National Police itself has hindered the investigation process, but this has been denied by the prosecutor in charge of the case Dayra Botello.
But he confirmed that no date has yet been set for the submission of the results of the investigation to the judicial branch..
