Cinta Costera Seawall resort to cost $37 million

A 6.86 hectare  of landfill, part of the third phase of the Cinta Costera  that will host a "tourist restaurant" and cultural and sports area will cost $37 million.

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP),  is the promoter of the work  described as a “seawall resort,” for which there was a 350 page environmental impact assessment (EIA). Public consultation conducted as part of the EIA said that only 32 people were interviewed, of whom 60% said that the work will produce no benefits . Civil society organizations were not invited to discussion meetings.

The U.S. consulting firm Louis Berger, author of the report says that the breakwater will be a cobbled square, cultural area, sports courts, bike path and parking and a two storied circular restaurant.

It  adds that the purpose of the project is "winning public space" and improving the operation of  the multipurpose wharf.
