WHAT THE PAPERS SAY: Truth and transparency

La Prensa, Hoy por hoy. October 14

It is incredible how politics and improvisation affect the processes of and projects managed by the public sector.

Within a few days of the  projected arrival of  a group of Unesco consultants that were to be informed  regarding the third phase of the Cinta Costera  and the  consequences to  the old town, the government postponed the trip. The justifications for cancelation are seen to hide the  shame  of mentioning  the fact that the director of INAC was fired, then reinstated  and the internal maladjustments  to the institution. On the other it is argued that the money budgeted for the  travel expenses of the experts was used to cover other needs. In the end it is no more than a strategy to postpone the presentation to UNESCO and  the public, plans with respect to the third stage of the Cinta Costera. After all truth and transparency  are attributes that cannot be expected from those who govern us now.
