80 more diablos rojos head for graveyard as new buses start
Another 80 noise and air polluting diablos rojos will disappear from the streets of Panama on Friday, July 15 and be replaced by Metro buses.
Approximately 50 buses will begin operations on three of the Metro Bus system : Pedregal-Tumba Muerto, Pedregal,Pedregal-Way Transístmica and Via Espana.
A spokesman for the transit authority said: "Obviously, nothing will be perfect, but where possible every effort is being made to start and begin the transition to new buses."
Carriers leaving the public transport system who have completed the paperwork will receive financial compensation of $25,000 per vehicle.
