Nearly $1 million FIS funds stolen via nunnery prosecutor

A former Panamanian legislator accused  of  stealing nearly $1 million  from the Social Investment Fund (FIS) via a nunnery, is claiming political persecution.

Anti corruption prosecutor, Rosa Elvira Pinzon, found that  between 2002 and2004,  Francisco Ameglio diverted $936,626 through the Monastery of the Visitation of Holy Mary in Las Cumbres

He is one of  19 the prosecutor is seeking to bring to trial for embezzlement.
