Former city official heads to court to face corruption and money laundering charges
Panama’s former municipal engineer Jaime Salas will face his preliminary court hearing on charges of corruption and money laundering on Oct. 27.
Also facing charges in the case are Edilsa González and Hugo Sánchez.
Salas and the others face charges that they used two corporations to hide proceeds from construction work done between July 2005 and October 2007 while Salas was in office. The companies received deposits totaling $1.9 million.
Salas also faces two other criminal complaints.
