Panamas president promises toll free corridors

Tolls on Panama’s North and South Corridors will be gone, once the State settles the total debt said President Ricardo Martinelli on Wednesday (July 28)
No  more line ups?He also promised that the two highways will be expanded to benefit the Panamanian population.
The president’s statements were made at a press conference to announce the proposed acquisition of the expressways.
Martinelli said that negotiations with the concessionaires ICA Panama (South) and PYCSA (North) were long and tedious, but ultimately fruitful.

"There was good will from both companies," he said.
The president criticized the bad negotiations of previous governments and said that under the existing system was the northern corridor would be not be paid off until 2093 and the South in 2029.

During the conference, Martinelli asked the Minister of Public Works, Federico Suarez, to expedite the interconnection of the North and South corridors, at some point in the city.
