Whenjudges become Court jesters and an attorney refuses to be a puppet
What the papers say
La Prensa July 8
The Supreme Court of Justice remains committed to playing the game of the Executive by bringing to trial Attorney General Ana Matilde Gómez. This decision is just another act of the tragic comedy whose victim is an official who is persecuted because she stood firm against pressures, because she did not betray her principles, because she questioned the government, because she refused to be a puppet.
There is dignity in fighting a war lost in advance knowing that her judges, have become the court jesters of Martinelli. The little progress that was achieved by the former chairman of the Judiciary Mitchell Harley regarding independence,is toay trampled by the servile attitude of many of his colleagues, who once again dressed justice in black. The prosecutor, as has been said ad nauseam, never acted with malice, and the concerns of the puppet government controlled by the public prosecutor have mortally wounded the country’s institutions.
