Supreme Court says case against suspended Attorney General can proceed

Panama’s Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that there are grounds for suspended Attorney General, Ana Matilde Gómez to go trial, on a complaint of alleged abuse of authority submitted by former Prosecutor Arquimedes Sáez, who was being investigated for soliciting bribes to assist a person being prosecuted.
The preliminary hearing of the case, was led by Chief Justice, Aníbal Salas, with the charges brought by the attorney in charge of Administration, Nelson Rojas. The decision was six for and three against.
Gómez said she has little faith in seeing justice done in this case, but said that she would comply fully with the law "because I am a professional lawyer," adding that her accusers have no respect for justice.it is widely believed by civil rights groups that the prosecution is politically  motivated
