Live trips down memory lane at Oldies

Out and about
Oldies, Panama’s center for trips down memory lane with videos from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s will get a bonus addition on Saturday May 29.
In addition to the videos, the Big Picture five piece arena style big rock band will be playing their renditions of music from the same era, plus selections from the 90’s (positively modern) while celebrating the birthday of the band’s drummer.
The band is known for playing difficult and popular cover tunes that no one else plays, as well as introducing unknown cover tunes. It is made up of three Panamanians on base, keyboards and drums, a Canadian playing guitar and a Nicaraguan-born singer, plus a female guest singer for some of their songs.
The band’s goal is to become one of the most popular rock bands in Panama, and to reach it, they rehearse together at least 8 hours a week.
I think I have mentioned before that you don’t have to be an oldie to enjoy the music at this popular spot. Many of the guests weren’t born when the music on the 46 screens was recorded.
The restaurant also happens to serve great food and, my sources tell me, is gearing up to present the World Cup games on the biggest screen in town (plus the 46 others) .
You will find it on Calle 39, two blocks north of Balboa. 39 is the road leading up to the National hospital, and that road is two before the old American Embassy.{jathumbnail off}.

As a footnote, The Canadian Association of Panama will be holding their regular monthly get together at Oldies on Thursday June 4. You don’t have to be Canadian to attend, or to join, and you are sure to meet some nice folks their.
