Heritage groups want answers about Central Hotel
Work on the historic Central Hotel in Casco Viejo is continuing with residents and heritage groups questioning the lack of information following collapsed walls.
After the building in Cathedral Plaza was gutted and historical artifacts destroyed there were two incidents where outer walls collapsed, the last in February.
Heritage protection groups have tried, unsuccessfully to get answers to questions about sanctions against the company responsible for what they call an “irredeemable loss.”
They want an explanation from the director of Heritage, Jaime Zarate.
Work on another building close by was suspended by the courts for construction infringements after a strong campaign from local residents and, in a recent decision, refused to overturn the original ruling. {jathumbnail off}
