Citizens groups said under attack from government
Panamanian citizens’ groups already “under attack” by the government will soon by joined by environmental organizations and other groups says the Citizens’ Alliance for Justice.
Magaly Castillo, executive director, said today (March 31) that any person facing the government will experience "a pack of lies and "that Panama has to learn to be more tolerant. She was speaking on TVN Channel 2.
The Alliance representing 25 civic, business and professional organizations, on Monday, (March 30) denounced the existence of a campaign of attacks against civil society leaders by the government.
"The expectation is also an attack on environmental agencies, which has already begun.”
She was referring to a recent speech by President Ricardo Martinelli when he said that he is ready to change environmental laws to encourage investment from mining companies.
