Seven injured in latest public transit crash
Panama’s transit woes continue with yet another bus accident injuring seven passengers, two seriously.
Accidents involving public transit are almost daily events in Panama, including deaths of pedestrians, Frequently the drivers are found with large sums of unpaid fines, without proper certification or driving licenses or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The latest took place on a Pacora bus. It was in Pacora last year that 24 people died in a late night bus collision.
This time passengers say that the bus, carrying 40 people veered off the road when another vehicle struck a rear wheel.
The driver of the other vehicle was reported as leaving the scene of the accident..
Close to the accident scene another was reported involving the driver of a car who fell asleep at the wheel, and a mini bus.
