Taxi takes wing at Paitilla flyover

A taxi hit a retaining wall on the flyover near Multi Centro and catapulted through the air to the road below on Saturday afternoon (February 20).

The driver and passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately no other vehicles were involved.
The speed of the taxi when it hit the wall has not been determined but it is unlikely that it was at, or below,  the posted speed for entry to the ramp 30 kilometers an hour.
It was an accident waiting to happen and without monitoring will likely be repeated, especially when the rainy season returns.

Try driving at the speed limit  as you enter the ramp from the Cinta Costera and count  how many trucks, cars and taxis hurtle past you, with horns blasting.
