Pope to visit Panama in 2013

Pope Benedict XVI will make an official visit to Panama September 2013. He will then be 86 years old.

The visit will coincide with the 500th anniversary of Balboa’s discovery of the Pacific Ocean and Panama’s hosting of the Central American Games.
The visit was confirmed by Minister of the Presidency Demetrius Papadimitriu on Wednesday. With the run up to the next elections starting in the last quarter of the year, it will be a feather in the cap of President Ricardo Martinelli who invited the Pope when he visited the papal summer residence last September.
