Panama’s security structure is obsolete and will be revamped  with the creation of a Vice Ministry of Integral Security says Rolando Mirones Minister of Public Security,

According to Mirones, after a study of the 14 prevention programs of the  Ministry (Minseg) it was concluded that the current structure - a boss in each of these units - is “obsolete” and does not allow good coordination to prevent young people at social risk being  recruited by criminal gangs.

The current structure of the Minseg comes from 2010 and used to work alongside the current Ministry of Government.

The Minseg today has the Vice Ministry of Security, in charge of Ivor Alex Pittí Hernández Also under the responsibility of Mirones are the National Police, the Aeronoval (Senan), Border (Seafront) and Migration services.

Mirones says that if the Legislature approves the new vice ministry, it would work with existing personnel and resources.
