Ministry axes fourth bridge evaluation
In a surprise move, The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) announced on Friday. June 15 the annulment of the evaluation committee’s report for the fourth bridge over the Canal and said a new committee will be named to analyze the proposals of the four groups that aspire to handle the over $1 billion design and construction contract.
The MOP without providing details accused the committee of violating the statement of conditions and the law of public procurement sparking speculation in social media.
In October last year, President Juan Carlos Varela had announced that preliminary work would begin in March.
