Starting Thursday, September 16, the listing of 20 countries considered to be at high risk of transmission of Covid-19 comes into effect in Panama.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa), says the classification was developed taking into account the parameters of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The General Directorate of Health is based on the epidemiological analysis of the incidence of daily confirmed cases per million inhabitants in each of the countries included, as well as the circulation of the virus variants classified by the WHO, such as Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Lambda and Delta.

Costa Rica

French Guiana

United Kingdom

South Africa

The list of high-risk countries will be temporary until a new review, depending on the evolution of the pandemic and the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

I understand why the U.S. is a high risk country. They are 4.2% of the world's population and 19% of the world's infections and 15% of the world's deaths.
