Fines up up $1000, for flouting city facemask decree
The use of facemasks in Panama City became mandatory on Tuesday, April 21 after the municipal council approved a draft agreement.
Justices of the peace will have the power to sanction citizens who fail to comply with the quarantine measures decreed by the National Government, with fines of up to $1,000, community work, or any other legal measure that they establish.
The president of the Health Commission, Carlos Pérez Herrera said that the measure is due to the lack of responsibility of some citizens, who have not become aware of the health situation that the country is experiencing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
