Nurses battling virus protest “adverse  conditions"

 

Panama’s  National Association of Nurses (ANEP) denounced on Tuesday, June 23, that they are facing adverse situations in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement to the country, the nurses union warned of the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and gowns, which meet the quality and safety criteria.

“In order to attend to patients affected by Covid-19, in some health facilities. In addition, the lack of supplies and medications, “is reflected in the note.

ANEP  also raises the need to guarantee the continuity of means of transport for health personnel in times of risk, especially with the application of the curfew.

In the statement, it said that there is not adequate attention and timely follow-up for personnel affected by the virus.

” There is Little coverage of serological tests in health personnel and lack of updated information on the statistics of Covid-19 infected health personnel.”

ANEP says that these situations and others have been disclosed to the Health authorities, but so far no responses have been received.
