Covid cases reach 48,096 with 960 deaths
The death of 28 people in the previous 24 hours raised the total of Panama fatalities due to COVID-19 to 960 said the Health Ministry on Tuesday In the same period there were 923 new cases bringing the totals infected by the virus to 48,096.
There are 22,469 active cases in the country. A total of 171,116 tests have been applied in the 4 months of the pandemic (51,048 positive and 120,068 negative).
There are , 21,297 people in isolation and 1,172 hospitalized – 1,015 in wards and 157 in intensive care.
Currently the effective reproduction number remains at 1.40%
Health Minister Luis Francisco Sucre, said that in order to cut transmission and establish strategies,
each positive case and its contacts are being georeferenced, with the support of local authorities.
“We have to avoid all family gatherings, we are all willing to continue fighting for
you, but help us in this war that belongs to everyone,” said Sucre.
