Record surge in cases and deaths

New cases of COVID-19 in Panama surged to 1,176 on Friday, July 24 bringing the  number infected since March to 57,993 . Friday also marked a record-high 41 deaths. bringing  the  total to 1,250

The fatality rate is 2.1% compared to the world average. 4.1%.

 Active cases – 24,039.

 In home isolation,- 22,641 people, 21,967 are at home and 674 in hotels.

Hospitalized –  1,398 with  1,243 in  wards.

Intensive care – 155

Tests since March 9, 200,986 (50,734 positive and 140,252 negative).

Friday tests  – 3,381, with  positivity of 35%.

Age group –  people between the ages of 20 to 59 continue to be the most  infected with the virus.

Recovered 32,704.
