Health Ministry delegates sanction power for virus offenders
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has delegated some powers to impose sanctions on those caught violating the quarantine .
From Wednesday, August 19, the directors of health sub-centers, centers and polycentric, and the Minsa-Capsi , may impose fines of $10 to $500, to those who fail to comply with the measures to restrict mobility, use the mandatory mask or refuse the Covid-19 diagnostic test.
They may sanction those who hold meetings not authorized by the Minsa, circumvent sanitary fences or operate unauthorized commercial establishments.
Regional directors of Health will have the authority to sanction with fines of $500 to 5,000 dollars, whoever is a repeat offender, and those who circumvent the sanitary fences or, after being diagnosed positive, are found in supermarkets or areas of mass attendance.
According to the Minsa, 19% of infections have been found to originate “at the time that people positive with Covid-19, irresponsibly, have gone to the country’s supermarkets to make effective digital vouchers or who attend public places in massive attendance, putting the health of the population at risk ”.
Meanwhile, the general director of Public Health will be responsible for imposing sanctions of up to $100,000.
